Chesil class have been busy finding fractions of an amount this week. We used cubes and Dienes to share amounts equally, finding either half, 1 quarter or 3 quarters of an amount. It was tricky to begin with, but the children persevered and got there in the end!

Yesterday, Eco-Club for 2024 to 2025 had their first meeting. So exciting!! Some amazing ideas were shared. Watch this space ....
In the afternoon, Chesil Class and Little Acorns came to Forest School! The theme was Freddo's Houses. The children constructed inspirational houses for Freddo (the Forest School Frog Friend). To end the session the children took part in the team building games. Fun was had by all - well done to all the children. Mrs Legge

A massive WELL DONE to the Netball team, who took part in a local school's tournament this week. It was an eventful afternoon, but they all channelled their Team Try powers, kept calm and remained focused playing the best that they could.

Monmouth class had great fun this week learning or reminding themselves how to do a running stitch. Towards the end of the lesson they all had a try at a cross stitch too! We will continue to practise our sewing skills next week.

We held a Remembrance Service this morning. All the children made crosses with poppies at the centre and laid them as we remembered those who have died in conflicts around the World.

We've had a great first week back in Cogden finding out about our new units of work. The children have especially enjoyed our new 'Introduction to python' coding unit in computing. They have made some impressive patterns using the repeat function in logo.

Yesterday Chesil Class and Little Acorns enjoyed their first session this half term! The theme was caterpillars. The children designed and made caterpillar puppets and caterpillars that grew when wet. The caterpillars provided a huge stimulation and success! Well done to all the children. A great start to the half term.

Can’t believe where time has gone – we celebrated the last Forest School Session of the half term yesterday! Well done to Monmouth Class for all their hard work and effort this half term! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed eating the homemade popcorn, around the fire, as a treat today. Mrs Legg wishes all the children a happy half term. See you next term!

Cogden have been improving their computer skills this week in more ways than one! In Computing, they have been inputting data into spreadsheets and using this to create different charts and graphs. In English, they have been improving their typing skills as well as learning how to set out a formal letter. Great job Cogden - you're building skills that will be with you for life!

Chesil class had a super day at Bridport Museum on Tuesday! They all got to make rope to take home and they asked great questions to find out more about the history of Bridport. We then enjoyed lunch in the Town Hall before visiting the park for a play.

Another great week of Forest School! Well done to Monmouth Class for following the required health & safety guidelines for fire lighting. All the children in the class used a ferro rod and striker for creating sparks with. Mrs Legg enjoyed watching the sparks created. It was like our own Loders firework display. Great skills and resilience was demonstrated. Look forward to creating a larger cooking fire next week. Well done to all the children today.

On Monday in Monmouth class, we created our own celtic jewellery out of clay. We had great fun trying to make our designs come to life and include some 3D patterns. Well done Monmouth!
