Founded in October 1869 and located in the picturesque village of Loders, Loders CE Primary Academy is built upon Christian foundations, embeds the Christian faith and is committed to providing every child with an excellent education. Cogden had such an amazing time learning new skills and creating/tasting incredible food. Thank you so much to @Tortilla Cantina for such a memorable experience. The food they cooked with our pupils was amazing so imagine how good the restaurant food is!

In Monmouth this week we have been thinking about poetry. We have been describing firework displays using onomatopoeia and today we were writing descriptive phrases. We are looking forward to creating our own poems later this week! Great job Monmouth.

Chesil and Eype had a visit from a farmer today as part of their topic 'All kinds of jobs'. He brought his tractor in and all the children climbed up and sat inside. They loved being up high and were amazed at the size of the tyres! The children asked lots of fantastic questions and had a great afternoon.

Chesil class have been experimenting with different types of printing today in Art! They explored textures using crayons and rubbings. They printed with different objects, such as Lego and wooden blocks to see what effects they could make and they drew on foam, rolled on ink and then printed onto paper. What a fun Friday afternoon!

Monmouth class had an amazing afternoon yesterday in the local woods. We were working on the project 'See the Trees' that is offered to schools on behalf of Dorset National Landscape. We spent the afternoon identifying trees by their leaves, working out their height, their age and creating some art work. We all had a brilliant time exploring our local environment.

Cogden have been applying their map reading skills to create 3d topographical maps which have been painted to show the different climate zones within the country. Great teamwork Cogden: the tidying up was no mean feat either!

In Art, Chesil have been learning about using different types of line to create texture and to improve their drawing skills. We talked about using thick and thin lines, curly lines, cross hatching and using different amounts of pressure for dark and faint lines. They then chose a London landmark and had a go at drawing it using their new skills. Amazing drawings Chesil!

Codgen have enjoyed learning about how our understanding of the universe has changed over the course of history. We made human models of the Heliocentric and Geocentric models and compared these to our understanding today. Interesting stuff despite having a few dizzy children...

In Monmouth this week we continued to learn about our wonderful Earth. We focused on the lines of Longitude and Latitude and why they are important to navigate our way around the planet. We found coordinates for Hungary, Sri Lanka, Brazil and LA - all places connected to our class! Great learning Monmouth!

Eco-Club met again and designed some Energy & Recycling Posters to put up around school. This afternoon, Cogden Class came to Forest School. The children used the ancient technique of braiding to make friendship bracelet cordage and created dreams and goals for 2025. May this year be full of success and happiness.

Chesil class have enjoyed learning about their topic 'The Great Fire of London' this week! We compared London in the past with the present and noticed how different it was at the time of the fire. Years 1 and 2 enjoyed acting out their key text 'Vlad and the Great Fire of London', improvising their own speech in character to retell the story. A great start to our topic!

Today, Monmouth class were busting out some dance moves and choosing the music for the dance festival. We all had loads of fun and enjoyed experimenting with different songs. Great work Monmouth!

This week in Science we were learning about Winter. We talked about changes that we see in Winter and why they happen. As we were learning, it started snowing! We went outside to have a look and talked about the difference between snow and sleet.
