Welcome to Loders CE Primary Academy

On behalf of all the children, staff and governors, I would like to warmly welcome you to the Loders CE Primary Academy website.

‘A caring Christian family with a love for learning at its heart.’.

Loders CE Primary School, is established upon Christian foundations, embeds the Christian faith and is committed to providing every child with an excellent education.

The school was founded in 1871. It is located two miles north east of the historic market town of Bridport in the centre of the picturesque village of Loders. The school site comprises the original Victorian building, behind which two further modern additions have been built. The Victorian old school now houses two classrooms along with the staff room and offices. Built in 2004, two further buildings contain two more classrooms and a multi-purpose hall. The premises also include two playgrounds, an outdoor learning area for the Reception and Nursery children and a well maintained grassed garden area with mature trees and a wonderful view of the hills beyond. We have the use of the village hall and playing field a few minutes walking distance away.

At the end of Year 6, children usually transfer to The Sir John Colfox Academy in Bridport. Others have transferred to Beaminster School, Woodroffe School (Lyme Regis) and Colyton Grammar School.

In April 2016 Loders CE Primary Academy became part of the Acorn Multi Academy trust.

Acorn Multi Academy Trust statement:

“We are six schools working together to strive for excellence in all we do. We have a clear focus on school improvement to ensure that all of the children achieve the best possible outcomes in all areas of school life.

All of the schools are in rural parts of East Devon and West Dorset, on the boundaries of Devon, Dorset and Somerset.”

At Loders we celebrate successes at every level and the culture of the school is driven by enthusiasm and a desire to achieve. We promote learning that is active and creative and encourage children to embrace challenges. We provide an enriched curriculum that is broad and children have opportunities to participate in a wide range of cross-curricular activities such as: art, music, dance, performance and sport.

We place importance on developing the unique potential of each child.

We view education as a joint venture, involving everyone – children, parents, staff, governors and the wider community. Through these partnerships we aim to provide the best possible educational experience for each child and their family, enabling them to develop independence and a life-long love of learning.
